apples (about 42 medium) good cooking apples, peeled and sliced,
plus 2 tbs lemon juice,
all purpose flour,

shredded cheddar cheese,
whipped cream or ice cream,
1Arrange apples in four, greased, 13x9x2 inch pans.Combine water and lemon juice. Sprinkle over apples.
2Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in cheese, and lightly spread over apples.
3Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or till apples are tender and topping is lightly browned and crisp. Serve warm, or cool, with whipped cream or ice cream.
