I don't know where I found the recipe, my family loves it and I make it everytime there visiting or we have friends over. You can use different fruits whatever is in season.

1 1/4 c
fruit (mariionberries)
1 Tbsp
lemon juice
1/4 c
unsalted butter softned
1/2 c
sugar
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
salt

lg egg
1 c
flour
1/2 c
milk

Directions Step-By-Step

Topping:
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1- cup hot water ( from the tap)
Wisk together the sugar, cornstarch,salt, and spice. Sprinkle over the batter then carfully pour hot water over all. It will puddle on top but that's okay Put pan on cookie sheet to bake.

Cake:
Slight grease an 8-inch square pan Place fruit in the pan sprinkle with the lemon juice. Cream together the butter, sugar, baking powder, spice and salt till smooth Beat in the egg, then add the & milk, beating after each additiion.Spoon batter over the fruit in the pab spreeding it to mostly cover.

Bake the cake in a prheated 375 degree oven for about 50 min. untill it's nicely browned on the top.
Great warm with ice-cream
