Vanilla Chip Cherry Cookies

vanilla or white chocolate chips (10-12 oz)
maraschino cherries (10 oz) drained and chopped
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract.
Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
Stir in vanilla chips and cherries.
Chill for approximately 2 hours.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
