This is my Mothers Butter Cookie Dough I also use this for cut out shape cookies, for Black Raspberry Tart Cookies, and the Candy Cane Cookies this dough is versital.

Ingredients

3 c
flour
1 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
3/4 c
sugar
1 c
butter (softened)
1 large
egg
2 tsp
milk
1 1/2 tsp
vanilla

Step-By-Step

1Sift flour, baking powder, and salt set aside.
2Cream butter and sugar.
3Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat well.
4Blend in dry ingredience gradually
5Divide dough in half, add 2 teaspoons of red food coloring to 1/2 dough blend in well.
6Refrigerate both portions 1 hour.
7Using one teaspoon of red dough roll into rope, do the same thing with white dough twist together make a hook in top you now have a candy cane.
8bake on lightly sprayed cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 14 minutes, remove from cookie sheet to racks.
