Homemade German Chocolate cake is the best especially with homemade icing still warm from the stove top yummy.

Ingredients

2 c
sugar, granulated
1 c
vegetable shortening
2 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1 tsp
baking soda
1 pkg
bakers german sweet chocolate squares
1 c
buttermilk
1 tsp
vanilla extract
3 large
egg whites

Step-By-Step

1Preheat oven to 350

2Cream sugar and shortening together

3mix dry ingredients together and then add to creamed mixture

4Melt chocolate in 1/2 cup of boiling water and then add to cake

5Add buttermilk and vanilla

6Now lastly add 3 beaten egg whites

7pour into 2, 9 inch greased and floured cake pans and bake 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Do not over bake.

8Then ice with homemade boiled icing with coconut and chopped pecans
