Ingredients

2 c
sugar
1 c
shortening or butter
4
eggs
2 1/2 c
flour
1/2 c
water
1 tsp
each cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg
1 tsp
soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1 c
nuts (optional)
2 c
fresh apples, chopped fine or grated
1 tsp
vanilla extract

Step-By-Step

1Mix flour, salt and spices. Cream sugar and shortening. Beat eggs, add to creamed mixture; beat for 1 minute.
2Mix soda with water. Add dry ingredients alternately with apples and water/soda mixture. Add vanilla. Add nuts if desired.
3Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes to 1 hour until done.
