Ingredients

2 c
sugar
1 3/4 c
flour
3/4 c
cocoa powder
2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
2
eggs
1 c
buttermilk
1 c
strong brewed black coffee, cooled
1/2 c
oil
2 tsp
vanilla

Step-By-Step

11. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or one 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
2Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.
3Combine sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla in a large mixer until light and creamy.
4Add buttermilk and coffee alternately with the flour mixture until totally combined. Scraping sides of bowl as needed. Batter will be thin.
5Bake in 2 greased and floured 9" round cake pans for 35 minutes
6Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing. Then transfer to cake racks. Cool completely before icing.
7Pairs well with chocolate buttercream icing or whipped ganache
