Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice in a medium sized bowl. Set aside.
In another medium bowl, cream together the softened butter and the sugar. Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well.
A little at a time, incorporate the dry mixture into the butter mixture until well combined.
Using a tablespoon, drop the dough onto the cookie sheets, leaving about 3 inches between each cookie. Bake for 11-13 minutes, just until the edges are golden brown. Let cool and enjoy.
