When we had been married 10 years my husband asked me why I never made his favorite cookie. I said it was probably because I didn't know what it was. He answered Soft Molasses. I then went on "the hunt" for a cookie to please my husband. Finding several recipes, I have combined, deleted, added...developing my own. This is the cookie we have settled on. This summer we celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
Sift together dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger.
Add egg, then molasses.
Pour in hot water all at once.
Scrape bowl and beaters.
Mix in remaining flour.
Using medium cookie scoop drop dough on pans
3-4 inches apart.
Bake in 350 oven 12-15 minutes or till cookies rise and get firm.
