Vivian, it comes across you're a Southern Lady....I'm from Alabama, 50 miles north of Birmingham. I think we have some of the same taste in foods. I have pecan trees and I have picked up about 30 pounds in the last 3-4 days. The wind blew real hard and down they came. My sister in law has paper shell, 3 trees, So, guess I'll pick up some of hers. I also picked up a 5 gallon bucket of Black Walnuts. My sister has a tree but she's having it cut down, too close to her house. Sure makes a good cake. Cheers !! JJ

Jewell, You can't beat a black walnut cake. Just wish I didn't like something so hard to shell. We're glad to have you here and love your recipes. I'm going to get some more of our good old Southern goodies posted soon. I live in central Arkansas about 20 miles from the capital. Retired RN and married to a wonderfull man who has retired four times but can't quite give it up. Looking for some new goodies for Thanksgiving. Everyone will be here this year. Vivian

Hey Vivian, I have the 5 gallon bucket of Black Walnuts on the carport drying. When the outside comes off I saw where a person had laid heavy plastic over thick card board and taped it down. Then they got a big clean rock and a hammer and began cracking walnuts. They would then gather them up into a container so they could be picked out in a more comfortable location. I prefer The recliner in front of the fire place...Jewel
