This recipe has been in our family for many years. I remember Mother making it when we were all children at home. It was a Christmas tradition in our home our entire lives. Thanks Momma, this is very good and special. This recipe is posted in honor of you Mother, we all miss you very much. ?
1Mix the first 3 ingredients, sugar, syrup and milk and cook until firm ball stage. Add the chopped pecans and chopped dates. The dates should be especially small chopped, using scissors works good.
2Boil an additional 3 minutes after adding nuts and dates. Beat until stiff and dull... this could take a while depending on how strong you are. Put out on board and work until firm and divide into 4 equal parts. Roll into 4 rolls (about 1" in diameter) and wrap in aluminum foil. Store in refrigerator or freezer. Cut into slices to serve. This is a delicious and unique candy.
