Tara's Notes:

This recipe was originally introduced to me by my Aunt. It was her signature dessert she would bring to our family get-togethers. I will say, there is absolutely nothing "disgusting" about this recipe! I can't say where the name came from except that maybe, it is disgustingly GOOD!

Comments from the Test Kitchen: Kitchen Crew

As chocolaty as this scrummy dish is, it's neither too heavy or too sweet. The Kahlua-soaked cake melds with the whipped cream and pudding for a spoonable taste of heaven. Top it off with Heath Bar and it's Blue Ribbon all the way!

Directions

1
Cut your prepared cake into cubes.
2
In a large glass bowl, layer the bottom with a third of your cake cubes. Then sprinkle with 1/3 Kahlua. Top with a layer of pudding, then a layer of Cool Whip. Then a layer of candy.
3
Repeat this for 2 more layers, ending with the topping of Cool Whip and sprinkled candy!

This would be beautiful in a Trifle bowl. Looks and sounds disgustingly delicious. I bet it would be great made with butterscotch and yellow cake as well! Oh heck even butterscotch and the chocolate cake. All I know is Kahlua goes well with butterscotch too!

Can it be done without liquor?

well KahlĂșa is a Mexican coffee-flavored rum-based liqueur. It is dense and sweet, with the distinct taste of coffee.

So maybe sweet coffe? IDK

You are welcome.. & thank you all!

@Elizabeth - It can be done. It would change the flavoring a bit. It would still be delicious. You could always try a coffee syrup. You can buy them retail.. brands like Starbucks and DaVinci make them. Let me know how it turns out if you decide to! :)
