Sea's Notes:

You cookie dough sneakers (you know who you are) don't have to hide anymore! Try these rich, chocolatey brownies and see what I mean. :-)

NOTE: Store in covered container in refrigerator. They are great cold, but if you let them warm up to room temperature, they are even softer, creamier and the flavors of the chocolate are enhanced.

That's a good thing! :-D

Directions

1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brownies: Combine sugar, flour, cocoa and salt. Add oil, applesauce, eggs and vanilla and blend on medium speed for 5 minutes. Pour into a prepared 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 30 minutes and cool completely. (Be sure brownies are COOL!)
2
Filling: Cream butter and sugars, add dash of salt, then add milk and vanilla. Gradually add in flour until creamy. Fold in chocolate chips and spread mixture over cooled brownies, then refrigerate until firm.
3
Drizzle: Melt chocolate and shortening in glass bowl in microwave and stir until smooth. Combine and drizzle on top of brownies.

Give them a try and let me know what you think! Warning though. It's difficult to not be tempted and grab another. ;-) Store them in a covered container in the fridge. They are good cold, but if you let them warm up to room temperature, they are SO fantastic!

I had them out on our coffee table for family movie time and I eventually had to put them away because they were going too fast!

Seasun, I have a question.

The 1 cup of flour in the topping.. Does it not get cooked? Or does the topping consist of raw flour?
