There are a lot of memories attached to this certain cake recipe. My grandmother was famous for her pound cakes, with this one being perhaps her most requested one. Moist, delicious, addictive....words can't begin to describe how awesome this cake is. I don't know how long this recipe has been in the family, but I do know that it's been passed along to every woman in it and has been revered for many, many years. This is the perfect ending to any meal and never disappoints.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar until very light and fluffy and sugar is nearly dissolved. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add the flour and the 7-Up/Sprite alternately, beating well after each addition. Beat in the lemon extract. Pour into a greased and floured 10" Bundt pan.
Bake for 1 and 1/2 hours or till cake is done. Let stand in pan 10-15 minutes; turn onto wire rack to cool completely.
