We have this every Christmas morning while opening our gifts with our coffee ! Wouldn't be without it.

You won't believe how perfect this turns out every time ! Sounds plain but no, the flavor is wonderful !

Ingredients

3 c
sifted flour
1 c
sugar
4 tsp
baking powder
2 tsp
salt
1
egg (lightly beaten)
1/4 c
shortening (melted) i use crisco
1 1/2 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 1/2 c
walnuts (do not chop)

Step-By-Step

1Re-sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add egg, shortening, milk and vanilla to dry ingredients.
Stir just until moistened.
Stir in walnuts.
2Turn into a greased 9x5x3 loaf pan or divide batter between 2 greased #2 1/2 round cans.

Bake 350 degrees (loaf pan) for about an 1 hr & 20 minutes. Check at 1 hr and 10 minutes, don't want to overcook it.
Bake 350 degrees (#2 1/2 cans) for 1 hr & 10 min.
