Kimi's StoryWe always go to the Spanish Bakery while in St. Augustine. They have great bread, cookies, & sausage in the bread dough. This is a favorite of my sons. I made a lot of different filings to go inside. Easy and delicious.
count pkg of link sausage (you can use any type)
1lb pkgs of ready made dough (i bought mine at walmart in the deli section)
variety of filings: sauerkraut, swiss cheese, colby jack, or plain (these are just the filings i used)
1Thaw out the dough (it comes frozen). I let it rise in the pkg. Roll out pieces of dough in the length of you sausage. Place filing on the bottom, sausage on top. Cover to secure. Bake in a 400F oven for 30 minutes.

I love doing this.....used to do it with homemade bread dough, but to save time (an energy on an old woman) I too by frozen dough.

I love this idea, one of my old boy friends use to bring me an italian bread his mother would make it was stuffed with cheeses and italian sausage and herbs, it was delicious, she would always make it when she would make oysters. Does the sausage cook along with the bread or do you pre cook it?
