I was cleaning and straightening out my pantry and found a small amount of cornmeal and I had a can of creamed corn in my hand so this is how this recipe began. I added eggs, flour, sugar,bacon grease and cinnamon/sugar...and it turned out so delicious ;I served it with honey butter cinnamon.

Ingredients For cornbread with a hint of bacon

  • 2 c
    bisquick
  • 3/4 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/4 c
    melted bacon grease,cooled
  • 3 lg
    eggs, beaten
  • 14 3/4 oz
    can of creamed corn
  • cinnamon/sugar for garnish

How To Make cornbread with a hint of bacon

    Heat oven to 400^. Grease or spray a 10x10 inch baking dish;or a 9x9 will work too.

    Combine dry ingredients. Stir in remaining ingredients ,except the cinnamon sugar. Mix with a wooden spoon ;just until dry ingredients are moistened.

    Pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over top. Bake for 30 minutes in 400^ oven then turn oven down to 350^ and continue to bake for 2o-25 minutes. Bake until golden brown and a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve split and spread with honey/butter/cinnamon.
