This is an automatic bread maker recipe.
The bread is my son's favourite.
It is great for sandwiches, toast, and bread pudding.

Bread Machine

Ingredients

1 c
water
2 Tbsp
vegetable oil
2 Tbsp
honey
1 tsp
salt
1 c
rolled oats (not instant)
1/2 c
whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c
bread flour
3 Tbsp
milk, nonfat, dry
1
egg (optional)
1 1/2 tsp
active dry yeast
1/2 c
chopped walnuts
1 Tbsp
gluten (optional)

Directions Step-By-Step

Put ingredients except walnuts in breadmaker according to the manufacturers instructions. This makes a 1 1/2 lb loaf.

At the beep add the walnuts.

After baking remove from pan and cool before slicing.

I usually use the dough cycle and form the bread into one medium loaf and a couple of little loaves. I bake them in the oven at 375 degrees F. for 45 minutes for the larger loaf and 30 minutes for the little ones. I prefer to test them with an instant-read thermometer.
Internal temperature should be 200 degrees F.
