Cheddar Burger Appetizers

Jennifer Bass

I love to eat bite-sized food and often make what I call "snack-attizers" with a side dish for dinner. It's a nice change for something small instead of a heavy meal.

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
What a fun appetizer! The Montreal seasoning added to the meat adds a ton of flavor. These are super easy to prepare and everyone will love them! Great for a party, a tailgate or even a light dinner.

1 lb
ground beef
1 tsp
Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp
1/4 tsp
1/4 tsp
Montreal steak seasoning
2 oz
cheddar cheese, sliced to 1/4-inch slices
1 small
onion, sliced
baby portolbello mushrooms, quartered
14 large
cherry tomatoes, halved
frilly toothpicks

1In a 10-inch skillet, place Worcestershire sauce, mushrooms and onions and saute until onions are translucent. Set aside and let cool.
2On each toothpick, thread 1 half of the tomato, mushroom and onion and set aside.
3In large mixing bowl, all other ingredients except for the cheese. Shape tablespoonfuls of mixture into meatballs and flatten slightly to resemble hamburgers.
4Using the same skillet, cook burgers over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place cheese over each hamburger and let the cheese melt. Insert 1 toothpick with the tomato, mushroom and onion in each burger and serve warm.
