I love the simplicity and goodness of this pie. I also love the fact that it is from a fellow Mississippian. I grew up in Choctaw County (Ackerman) and know all cooks from "our neck of the woods" are great!

Hello Vicky,
I never made a chess pie. I know they are good because my Gram used to make them. As soon as I can I will make this recipe.

One of my favorite memories is of my mother's Chess Pie. She was from Liberty, Mississippi. She made fabulous Chess Pies and Brown Sugar Pies. Another one of my favorites was her Buttermilk Pie. Mother died in 1979, and I can still taste her pies.

Thank you sooooo much. My boyfriend has told me of his grandmothers Chess Pie and he could remember what went in it, but not how much. I am making him one. Thank you again.

As a transplant from the north, I had never heard of chess pie until I moved to Arkansas. I chose to make this recipe for my first ever and I have to say it is amazing! My Mother-In-Law and husband were both crazy about it and said it tasted like the perfect chess pie they new and loved. It is so easy and the ingredients are always on hand. It has become a quick favorite in my house. One question: Does anyone know if this can be made ahead and frozen?
