taco seasoning
(1 rating)
Absolutely delicious and much tastier and healthier than any packaged taco seasoning mixes. I use it for ground beef and turkey mostly, but you can even use it on chicken breasts for the grill or to season fish for fish tacos!

1/2 tsponion powder

-
1/2 tspred pepper flakes, crushed
-
1 1/2 tspblack pepper
-
1 Tbspcornstarch

1/4 tspcayenne pepper (optional, add if you like really spicy!)
How To Make taco seasoning
-
1In a small bowl or large measuring cup, mix together all ingredients. This recipe can be cut in half, which is what I did for these pictures. (Makes a heaping 1/4 cup of seasoning, when cut in half) Use 2-3 Tbsp of the seasoning for 1 lb of ground beef or turkey.
-
2The salt, cayenne pepper and dried cilantro leaves can be omitted, but if you like cilantro and a lot of kick, add these ingredients. The sea salt that I add in this mix is still less sodium than packaged mixes. Store in an airtight bottle or container.
-
3Brown 1 lb of ground beef or ground turkey, drain off fat. Add 2-3 Tbsp of seasoning and 1/2 can of 14 oz diced tomatoes, Italian style with juice. (If you like it extra spicy, add 1/2 can diced tomatoes with green chilies in place of the Italian flavored tomatoes). Continue to cook until flavors blend and slightly thickens, approx 3-5 minutes. You can always add a little extra cornstarch if it doesn't thicken enough for your liking. Serve with your flavorite crunchy taco shells or soft taco tortillas, corn or flour.
