I have actually tried this and I'm just not able to. I have actually just found it easier to use the egg separator that you can buy pretty much anywhere. Doesn't mean that it wouldn't work for someone else though.

And then you have a nasty bottle to wash. I learned as a kid just to use the shells. Way easier.
