My Original Baked Bean Recipe

Amanda Hyatt

While making baked beans for a family BBQ, I decided to make my own recipe. A few minutes of tweaking the flavors to get it just the way I liked, and I ended up with a baked bean recipe that everyone seems to love. Just catered a wedding for my cousin, and the photographer asked if I wanted to be a professional caterer for a package deal she was creating; because she said and I quote, "These are the best baked beans I have ever had". Hope everyone who makes them enjoys them like my family does.

4 can(s)
(15 ounce cans) pork and beans
7 slice
onion, diced
1/4 c
brown sugar
2 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
tomato paste
2 Tbsp
yellow mustard
1/8 tsp
garlic powder

1Slice bacon into bite sized pieces. In skillet fry bacon over medium to medium high heat until most fat has rendered, and is almost fully cooked, but not real crispy
2Remove bacon from pan, add onions and cook on med-low to med heat until onion is soft and translucent.
3While onions are cooking, add the 4 cans of beans into an oven safe casserole dish.
4In a separate bowl, mix together Molasses, Tomato paste, Mustard, Garlic and Brown Sugar.
5Add Molasses mixture and bacon and onions to beans and mix to combine.
6Bake at 350 for an hour, or until mixture thickens and it is the consistency you prefer.
