tangerine salsa

I love oranges and tangerines. This salsa was at a Christmas party and I loved it!!! I had to beg for the recipe and would like to share it with my friends.

yield Makes 4 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small red onion. finely chopped
  • 6 - ripe roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 -5 - tangerines, peeled, segmented, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
  • - salt to taste

How To Make tangerine salsa

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Cook onions until just caramelized.
  • Step 2
    Add tomatoes and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Step 4
    In a large bowl, mix together cooked tomatoes and onions with the tangerines.
  • Step 5
    Stir in the lime juice, hot sauce and salt.
  • Step 6
    Serve with tortilla chips. Salsa can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
