At one time, making home made chocolate syrup seemed silly or useless...After all, its not very costly to buy at the grocery store..

After making a batch, I realize how simple and asolutly fresh home made is

Makes 2 cups


  • ·
    1/2 cup cocoa powder { use a good quality cocoa powder }
  • ·
    1 cup water
  • ·
    2 cups granulated sugar
  • ·
    1/8 teaspoon salt
  • ·
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How to Make Home Made Chocolate Syrup


  1. Mix the cocoa powder and the water in a saucepan.
    Heat and stir to dissolve the cocoa,
    Add the sugar and salt-stir to dissolve
  2. Boil for 3 minutes over medium heat.
    Be careful - don't let it boil over!
    Remove from heat - and the vanilla.
  3. Let cool and pour into a clean glass jar, and store in the refrigerator.

    This makes abt 2 cups
