crunchy baked pork bites with awesome sauce
This recipe is a two-fer. You can pile them up on a plate, and serve them as an appetizer, or you can place them on a nice warm bed of rice and make a meal out of them. They have just enough heat to get your attention, but not so much that you grab for the water. So yummy. Either way, you’re in for a tasty treat, and with that great sauce, and crunch, you won’t believe that they were baked. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients
- PLAN/PURCHASE
- AWESOME SAUCE
- 4 tablespoons tamari sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh clover honey
- 1 1/2 tablespoons hot sauce, i prefer, frank’s
- 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
- 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 cloves cloves, minced
- THE SLURRY
- 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder, or cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- THE PORK BITES
- 10 ounces pork tenderloin, cut into bite-size cubes
- 1/2 cup flour all purpose variety
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- OPTIONAL ADDITIONS
- - toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
- - sliced green onions, for garnish
- - white rice, for plating
How To Make crunchy baked pork bites with awesome sauce

Step 1PREP/PREPARE

Step 2AWESOME SAUCE

Step 3Gather your ingredients.

Step 4Add all of the sauce ingredients to a small saucepan, over medium-low heat.

Step 5Stir the mixture, and bring it up to a light simmer.

Step 6To make the slurry, mix the arrowroot (or cornstarch), and water together in a small bowl.

Step 7Add the slurry to the saucepan, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 8Cover the saucepan, and then reduce the heat enough to just keep the sauce warm.

Step 9Chef’s Tip: If your stovetop has a warm setting, use it.

Step 10THE PORK BITES

Step 11Gather your ingredients.

Step 12Combine the flour and pepper in a large plate, or breading pan. Whisk the eggs with the 2 tablespoons of water, and place in another pan. Add the breadcrumbs to a third pan.

Step 13Coat a piece of pork in the flour.

Step 14Shake off the excess, and then coat in the egg wash.

Step 15Shake off the excess, and then press into the panko breadcrumbs.

Step 16Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, fitted with a wire rack.

Step 17Repeat for the remaining pork, and allow them to rest for 15 minutes.

Step 18Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to385f (195c).

Step 19Place the pork bites in the preheated oven, and allow them to bake until fully cooked and beginning to brown, about 25 to 30 minutes.

Step 20Chef’s Note: Keep an eye on them, and make sure they don’t turn from golden brown to burnt brown.

Step 21Remove from the oven, and toss with the sauce.

Step 22PLATE/PRESENT

Step 23Serve on a bed of rice for a nice light meal.

Step 24Pile on a plate, and serve as an appetizer.

Step 25Garnish with some sliced green onions, and toasted sesame seeds. Enjoy.
