This recipe says comfort to me. With a plateful of this and some mashed potatoes with the gravy on top, you'll be feeling no pain!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak
  • 1 cup crisco
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • - salt to taste
  • 3 cups water

How To Make country style steak

  • Step 1
    Cut round steak into pieces. Heat Crisco in large skillet (I use an iron one). Roll steak in flour and fry brown on both sides over medium-high heat(about 3 minutes each side). Remove meat from skillet.
  • Step 2
    Add 3 tablespoons flour to the pan drippings and brown while stirring. Add salt and 3 cups water, stir well. Put steak back in pan and spoon some gravy over meat. Simmer covered on low 2 hours or until meat is fork tender.
