This is a little stronger than a traditional Irish Coffee, and it's finished off with Grand Marnier set aflamed – the coffee’s final ingredient, for an impressive presentation.

  • 1/3 oz
  • 1/3 oz
    kahlua (or other coffee-flavored liqueur)
  • 1/3 oz
    grand marnier (or similar orange-flavored liqueur)
  • 3 1/3 oz
    hot coffee, fresh brewed
  • ·
    whipped cream

How to Make Greenlandic Coffee


  1. Pour a measure of whisky into a large glass with a stem (Bordeaux). Warm the whisky carefully over a candle or a spirit burner and set it alight.
  2. Let it burn for a moment, after which Kahlúa and hot coffee without sugar should be added.
  3. Then carefully pour in a thick layer of gently whipped cream.
  4. Finally, add burning Grand Marnier from a large sauce spoon lifted high above the glass – preferably in a dark room so that the blue Grand Marnier flame is clearly visible.
