Let me know how your kids like this. It's fun to let them watch or take part in preparing them and they love to go to bed anticipating the magic to take place while they sleep. It's almost like Santa Clause. My kids are grown now, but I still make the magic happen for my sweetheart. Let me know if it works for you. I only had one failed attempt.

How to Make Forgotten Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. FIRST THING IS SET OVEN AT 350'
    then..
by the way...I always do this magic before bed! Just line cookie sheets w/alum.foil(shiny side down). Next, beat 2 egg whites(about 1/4 cup) and a pinch of salt till it's foamy. Add 2/3 cup gran.sugar-Beat stiff then add 1/2 teas. vanilla(or almond extract or something you like)Mix by hand and fold in 1 cup chopped pecans(or almonds, or choc.chips,etc.)I divide it and do several different kinds if I'm able.NEXT VERY IMPORTANT THING TO DO ...TURN OFF THE OVEN!then. Put the cookie sheets in and don't open until morning..but..don't forget!!!
  2. the kids used to love this! They would wake up and say, don't forget the forget cookies!! It was fun watching them peak in the oven and little excited faces. Those were the best days.
