Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 3/4 c
    cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 3 large
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • GANACHE

  • 1/2 c
    heavy cream
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp
    butter
  • 4-oz
    semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Chocolate-Buttermilk Bunt Cake W/ Ganache

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 10 inch bunt pan. Dust pan with cocoa powder.
  2. For the cake: In a large bowl sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add sugar.
  3. In a medium bowl whisk together buttermilk, eggs, oil and vanilla.
  4. Add buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared bunt pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for ten minutes. Run the tip of a thin knife around the edge of the cake to loosen. Invert onto the wire rack and cool completely.
  7. For Ganache: In a small sauce pan over med heat add cream, sugar, butter and vanilla. Heat until small bubbles begin to form around the edge of the pan and mixture is hot.
  8. Remove pan from heat and add chocolate. Whisk until melted.
  9. Drizzle ganache over the cooled bunt cake and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
