Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • GANACHE
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 4-oz - semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make chocolate-buttermilk bunt cake w/ ganache

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 10 inch bunt pan. Dust pan with cocoa powder.
  • Step 2
    For the cake: In a large bowl sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add sugar.
  • Step 3
    In a medium bowl whisk together buttermilk, eggs, oil and vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Add buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.
  • Step 5
    Pour batter into the prepared bunt pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Step 6
    Cool in the pan on a wire rack for ten minutes. Run the tip of a thin knife around the edge of the cake to loosen. Invert onto the wire rack and cool completely.
  • Step 7
    For Ganache: In a small sauce pan over med heat add cream, sugar, butter and vanilla. Heat until small bubbles begin to form around the edge of the pan and mixture is hot.
  • Step 8
    Remove pan from heat and add chocolate. Whisk until melted.
  • Step 9
    Drizzle ganache over the cooled bunt cake and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
