My son has been studying Greek mythology and found this recipe for the type of bread that Greek soldiers ate to keep their strength up for battles. It's very nice for breakfast and a great snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast

How To Make hoplite soldier sesame bread

  • Step 1
Dissolve the yeast in the milk and set aside
  • Step 2
Mix the flours with the salt, then add the eggs, olive oil, milk, and half of the honey.
  • Step 3
Knead until soft and elastic, slowly adding half the sesame seeds
  • Step 4
Cover and place in a warm place for an hour to rise. After the hour, form the dough into a log and slice into buns. Place the buns on a pan and allow to re-rise for 30 minutes.
