1 box angel food cake mix( I use Betty Crocker)
2 cans lemon pie filling (the recipe originally called for only 1 can)
I used two 21 oz cans of Comstock pie filling ( total of 42 oz)

does it have to be angle food cake ? can you use white?

I used two cans of raspberry pie filling - didn't work at all. Spilled all over the oven, never seemed to bake. I'm trying again with one can. I think the flavor will be good - but one can pie filling should work much better.

I love to bake and was excited to try these lemon bars. Did NOT turn out at all! I tried making this for our Labor Day cookout because of all of the good ratings and boy was I disappointed. I read all of the tips, followed the instructions and even cooked it a little longer like some said. Yuck! While it cooled it split right down the middle. So, still trying to salvage some of the bars I dusted it with powdered sugar and cut them into squares. The pieces were mushy and had a funny taste, kind of like one review said, like a jello. Warning, if you've not made this, do not count on it for a party until you try it. I ended up serving slice and bake cookies. Major thumbs down!

I tried a version of this using blueberry pie filling instead..........AND you should ONLY USE 1 CAN of pie filling. Cherry is equally as good.
