There is a big German population in Texas, especially in the Texas Hill Country. This is one of the recipes that I have from the Hill Country.

Ingredients

3 c
shredded, green cabbage
1 c
water
4 Tbsp
chopped onion
1/2 tsp
caraway seeds
4 Tbsp
butter
2 can(s)
condensed cream of potato soup
white pepper, to taste

soup cans of water

Directions Step-By-Step

In a Dutch oven, cook cabbage, water, onion, and caraway seed in melted butter until tender, about 15 minutes.

Add soup and pepper.

Pour into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Return mixture to saucepan; gradually stir in milk. Heat and stir occasionally. Thin to desired consistency by adding milk.
