Slippery Dumpling Soup

Ingredients

2 qt
water
3 Tbsp
chicken base
1 lb
potatoes cubed 1/2 inch thick
1 c
diced celery
1 c
sliced carrots
1/2 c
diced onion
to taste
salt and pepper
1 Tbsp
parsley flakes
few drops
yellow food coloring

DUMPLINGS

1 c
all purpose flour
1 Tbsp
shortening
1/2 tsp
salt
1/3 c
water

Step-By-Step

1In a soup pot add 2 quarts water, chicken base, potatoes, celery, onions, salt and pepper
2Cook for 1/2 hour.
3Remove veggies from stock and set aside.
4Sift flour in a mixing bowl
5Add salt, and cut in shortening
6Add water small amounts at a time until dough is soft yet not too sticky
7Roll out wafer thin.
8Cut into squares
9Drop into boiling soup broth. Cook for 15 minutes DO NOT COVER POT.
10Add veggies back to stock
I like to add a few drops of yellow food coloring to make the soup more appealing
