Ingredients

10 c
water
1
ham bone
8
potatoes, large, diced
1
white onion, large, diced
1
celery heart, diced
3 Tbsp
chicken base
3 clove
garlic, minced
1 Tbsp
black pepper
1/8 tsp
cumin
1/8 tsp
clove
1 Tbsp
butter
1 pt
heavy whipping cream

Step-By-Step

1Put water and ham bone in 5-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cover & simmer for about 30 minutes or until meat is easily removed from the bones.

2As ham bone is cooking, peel and dice potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes. Dice onion and celery heart.

3Remove ham and bone from water. DO NOT use a strainer as you will be using the remaining water.

4Add chicken base, garlic, pepper, cumin, clove and butter to sauce pan. Stir well.

5Add potatoes, onion, and celery. Cut any large pieces of ham into 1/2 inch pieces and add to water.

6Simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

7Add heavy whipping cream, simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.

8Garnish with sour cream, chives or shredded cheese.
Serve with crusty rolls.
