My family won't eat pea soup or bean soup, so coming up with something for that leftover ham bone was a bit of a challenge. Creamy potato soup was the answer...

Ingredients For ham & potatoe soup

10 cwater

1ham bone
-
8potatoes, large, diced
-
1white onion, large, diced
-
1celery heart, diced
-
3 Tbspchicken base
-
3 clovegarlic, minced
-
1 Tbspblack pepper
-
1/8 tspcumin
-
1/8 tspclove
-
1 Tbspbutter
-
1 ptheavy whipping cream
How To Make ham & potatoe soup

1Put water and ham bone in 5-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cover & simmer for about 30 minutes or until meat is easily removed from the bones.

2As ham bone is cooking, peel and dice potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes. Dice onion and celery heart.

3Remove ham and bone from water. DO NOT use a strainer as you will be using the remaining water.

4Add chicken base, garlic, pepper, cumin, clove and butter to sauce pan. Stir well.

5Add potatoes, onion, and celery. Cut any large pieces of ham into 1/2 inch pieces and add to water.

6Simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

7Add heavy whipping cream, simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.

8Garnish with sour cream, chives or shredded cheese. Serve with crusty rolls.
