Ingredients For amish cabbage casserole

1 mdgreen cabbage, cut into thin wedges

1/2 cwater

1/4 cbutter
-
1/4 call purpose flour

2 cmilk
-
1/2 tspsalt

1/4 tsppepper

1 ccheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cmayonnaise
-
3 Tbspchili sauce
-
1/2 conion, chopped
-
1/2 cgreen bell pepper, finely chopped
How To Make amish cabbage casserole

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2Combine cabbage wedges & water in a large saucepan; cover & cook over medium heat 15 minutes. Drain well & place cabbage wedges in a 12 x 8 x 2" baking dish.

3Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook over low heat 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened & bubbly. Stir in the salt & pepper. Pour mixture over cabbage & bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.

4Combine cheese, mayonnaise, chili sauce, onion & green bell pepper; stir well & spread over cabbage. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 20 minutes.
