Portuguese bean soup

I love this soup! It is cold weather comfort food.

Ingredients

1-2 oz
ham bones
1 can(s)
kidney beans, canned
2 medium
potato
3
carrot
1 large
onion
1 can(s)
(16 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can(s)
(16 oz.) crushed tomato canned
1
portuguese sausage or other type of sausage
1 c
elbow macaroni
1 tsp
salt or as you like
1 tsp
pepper
1 medium
cabbage head

Step-By-Step

1Boil ham bone in enough water to cover bone. Cook until tender save stock.Stock will be reduced by about half. Bring stock to a boil and add all ingredients except cabbage.
2Simmer 1-2 hours until all veggies are tender. Last half hour add cabbage and more salt and pepper if needed. Cook until cabbage is done.
3Serve over hot rice or corn bread.
