This is the original recipe from the restaurant according to the web-sight I found it on.
My husband grew up eating this soup on vacations with his parents. They served all you could eat which is handy for a vegetarian family of three healthy kids!
It is a good memory food for him. Also, very delicious!
Serve with a good crusty bread with LOTS of butter.

Ingredients

2 qt
soft water
2 c
green split peas
1 stick
celery chopped
1 large
carrot, chopped
1 small
small onion, chopped
1/4 tsp
thyme
1 pinch
cayenne
1
bay leaf
salt & pepper

Directions Step-By-Step

Boil hard for 20 minutes, then slowly until peas are tender

Strain through fine sieve and reheat to boiling point.
