Ingredients

  • 1 pound ( 2 1/3 cups ), dry lentils
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup snipped parsley
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds meaty ham bone
  • 7 cups water

How To Make ham – lentil soup, crock pot style

  • Step 1
    Rinse lentils; place in crock pot. Add vegetables, parsley, and bay leaf. Stir in salt, marjoram, and pepper; place ham bone atop. Add water.
  • Step 2
    Cover and cook on low heat setting for 9 to 11 hours.
  • Step 3
    Lift ham bone from soup. Remove meat from bone; discard bone. Return meat to cooker; season to taste. Remove bay leaf
