Mine turned out chewy. Which I do like, and it prevents me from eating so many at one sitting as is filling. Although if allowed to rise a 3rd. Time should soften them in texture. I use Vanilla Cream cheese frosting in this recipe. So tasty delicious!
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. lukewarm water 20 minutes. Mix flour with sugar & 1/2 stick butter forked in until crumbly.
Add flour stirring until moistened. Set aside to rise for 1 and 1/2 hrs. Then stir slightly with floured spoon. Knead slightly then return and cover in a warm place an additional hour.
Knead dough poking fingers into it, lifting and folding then let set again for 30-45 minutes.
At this point oil the baking pan. Place dough in pan and flatten, spreading and stretching unto sides of pan. Sprinkle with lots of sugar and cinnamon. top with tiny bits of butter, as too much will burn. Roll entire spread into a loaf then slice it into 2 inch rolls with a floured kitchen knife. Setting into pan 2 inches apart. Preheat oven to 350 F. And bake 20-25 minutes.
Ice with a swipe of vanilla cream cheese frosting When cooled, for sweet gooey goodness. Serve while hot.
