my mom and grandma made this every year and it has been a tradition for me to make this for my husband and children.everybody always raves over these,hope you enjoy them to.

about 8 cucumbers
1 c
1 cup of sugar everyday for 7 days

Directions Step-By-Step

I use a five gallon bucket with a lid when i make these because they take 7days to get finished.4lbs sliced,about 8 cucumbers.sprinkle with 1/3 cup salt.cover with boiling water and let stand over night.the next day drain off salt water in rinse pickles off.make your syrup next.bring to boil 1 quart of vinegar,1 cup sugar,1 tablespoon celery seed,2 tablespoons mustard seed,2tablespoons mixed pickling spices and 1 tablespoon alum.bring to a boil.put pickles back in bucket and pour syrup over cucumbers.after this but your lid on them then everyday for 7day add 1 cup sugar.DO NOT SEAL THESE WHEN THERE mom use to keep hers in the refrigerator in a pickling crock.
