Bennie's Story

These are so addicting. They look like the name, but once you try them, who cares what they look like. Wish I knew how to post a picture!!! I had never seen anything like these until someone brought a bag to my sister's house a couple of weeks ago......Deb posted the picture under the recipe and I posted it larger. This is exactly what the "droppings" look like. THANKS DEB for the picture.

Ingredients

2 c
brown sugar
1 c
butter
1/4 c
white corn syrup
1/2 tsp
baking soda
15 oz
cheetos (puffs)

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Put Cheetos puffs in LARGE bowl. ( Butter a large cookie sheet (10x15 or larger). I HAVE BEEN BAKING MINE IN MY ROASTER SO THEY DON'T FLY EVERY WHERE WHEN I STIR THEM. WORKS MUCH BETTER. WISH I HAD TRIED THIS BEFORE.
2
Bring sugar, butter and syrup to a boil, boil and stir for 5 minutes. Remove from fire add baking soda, stir quickly. Pour over Cheetos and mix well, make sure each puff has syrup on it. Pour into buttered pan, spread out as much as you can. Bake 1 hr @ 250*, stirring every 15 minutes.

Pour out onto waxed paper, foil or I used freezer paper because it is so much bigger. Quickly separate Caramelized Cheetos. (Try to resist the temptation, but I guarantee you cannot!) Store in large zip lock bags.
3
I took a box to send UPS and had 2 bags to go in the box. Just for "casers" I took a quart bag and gave to the ladies there, naturally I had to write the recipe for them. SO VERY GOOD.

Bennie, I am laughing at your comment about hee UP AND NOT KNOWING WHERE IT IS :). I did not ralize you were in New Mexico where the sun always shines :). We live in Michigan and I was referring to the Upper Peninsula (Upper Northern Michigan). :) ... Love the snow! This Trooper I was referring to is living in our cabin up there, I have not been up since New Years and am excited to "pamper" our guy in Blue :). If you would like I will take pictures of the SNOW ... When we get up there. It is so quiet and Peaceful ... I refer to it as "A Better Place To Be" :) blessings to you and your husband .... :)

My husband is a retired New Mexico State Policeman of 30 years. Those men in uniforms will get you every time. Have fun. I'm not sure what the UP is. We live in the wide open range here in New Mexico.

Hi Bennie, no reason to apologize :) ... I put what I made in a ziplock bag and I have noticed that the amount in the bag is getting less lol. I agree with you I think I should try the regular Cheetos instead of the white cheddar. :). We own a Cabin in the UP and have a St. Policeman with his Canine living there ... Long story .... He ls from the Coldwater area and goes home every weekend to see his kids. When he goes back to the UP on Sunday I am going to ride with him ....love our UP ... He loves to eat, He enjoys having #2 mom there cooking for him so I am taking stuff to try your recipe on him (I will let you know his comment :)). Any other yummy suggestions to fix ... This is going to be fun spoiling him and unlike my husband he enjoys eating anything :). Have a great day Bennie ... Happy cooking!

I'm sorry Cheryl....I checked back over the comments and there hasn't been a negative one. I do wish you would try the regular cheese puffs, but it just might not be your cup of tea, or plate of coyote droppings.... Have a blessed day.

Hmmmm ... They looked yummy so I decided to tantalize my taste buds :). I chose to use the white Cedder cheese puffs instead of the regular cheese and that is what mde the difference. We just were not sold on them :( . Would I give them another try using the regular "cheese puffs" ... Um, no I don't think so. I do not think it was the recipe, I think it was the way I chose ! Enjoy everyone ;)
