Over the years I have gleaned many a good recipe from my assistant, and this is one.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

The perfect savory accompaniment for your next brunch or cocktail party! These cheese wafers are savory, buttery, and full of cheese. There is a slight crunch from the Rice Krispies that makes these crackers a little interesting and different from other recipes. If you like things a little spicy, add more cayenne pepper.

Ingredients For cheddar wafers

  • 1 stick
    butter, softened
  • 8 oz
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    Rice Krispies, crushed slightly
  • 1/8 - 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch
    salt

How To Make cheddar wafers

  • Flour, salt, seasonings, and butter in a bowl.

    Mix the flour, salt, and cayenne. Use a fork and cut in the softened butter.
  • Mixing in shredded cheese and Rice Krispies.

    Mix in the shredded cheese and Rice Krispies. This will be dry and crumbly.
  • Mixture formed into balls and on a baking sheet.

    Scoop out about 1 Tbsp of the mix. Use the warmth from your hands to form balls and then slightly flatten them on a cookie sheet.
  • Baked Cheddar Wafers cooling.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Let cool slightly, then transfer to a cooling rack.
