Tiny Pronto Pup Batter

Nicole Bredeweg

I grew up that, every once in awhile, we'd have a deep-fry night. Homemade potato chips, onion rings, doughnuts, fish, etc. But it was always done in bulk. My family didn't have the patience for fondue. But I LOVE the idea (even if it's really a lot of work), so I had a fondue party recently. I found this recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens Fondue and Tabletop Cooking cookbook. This is a batter that I whipped up to dip veggies, little hot dogs, even fruit into. It worked well -- we all enjoyed it!

pinch tips: How to Core and Slice an Apple

1 c
eggs, beaten
2 Tbsp
vegetable oil
1/2 tsp
prepared mustard
1 1/2 c
pancake mix
assorted deep-fryables (vegetables, little weiners, fruit)

Directions Step-By-Step

Combine first 4 ingredients; add pancake mix. Beat with rotary beater until smooth. If batter thickens, add a little milk. Dip various items in batter and deep fry as appropriate for item.
