Ingredients For red onion rings

3 lgred onions, cut into 1/4" slices

1/2 cbuttermilk
-
2 cvegetable oil
-
1/2 cself rising flour
-
1/2 ccornmeal
-
1 tspcayenne pepper
-
1 tspsalt & pepper
- SEASON TO TASTE:

salt & pepper
How To Make red onion rings

1Combine onions & buttermilk in a large bowl; soak for 5 minutes.

2Meanwhile, pour oil in a large pot to a depth of 1 1/2"; heat to 375 degrees F.

3Mix flour, cornmeal, cayenne, salt & pepper in a medium bowl. Drain onion rings.

4Working in small batches, add a few onion rings to flour mixture & turned coat. Carefully add to oil. Fry until golden brown, 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste & enjoy!
