We can not have a family Get together without this salad.My Children really don't care what is served as long as Mom made a double batch for carry Great warm or cold.Goes with anything,however my fav is Beans-Cornbread with a tall glass of Texas-tea

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This is a beautiful summer salad! This is a side dish that will go with so many meals and will be great at your cookouts this summer.


family size bag stillwells breaded okra
1 pt
cherry tomatoes halved
1 medium
purple onion diced
1 medium
green bell pepper diced
1 lb
bacon cooked and chopped


1Cook bacon in oven till crisp but not hard. Place on cutting board and chop. Set aside.
2Fry Okra and lay out on paper towel lined cookie sheet. Cool slightly.
3In a large bowl layer everything as follows: Okra/onion/bacon/tomatoes/and a little salt. Do this till all the items are used and you are ready to serve. You can use a little of the bacon grease on top if you choose, but not much.
