Basic Pot of Pole Beans

Ingredients

3
bacon slices
1 c
onion, chopped
1/4 tsp
salt
3 (14-oz) jar(s)
ckicken broth
1 1/2 lb
pole beans, trimmed and cut in half crosswise

Step-By-Step

1Cook bacon in a large Dutch oven over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon from pan, reserving 1 teaspoon drippings in pan. Crumble bacon; set aside. Add onion to drippings in pan; cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add bacon, salt, and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 25 minutes or until beans are tender.
