okra, fresh or frozen
Slice fresh okra into 1/2 thick slices discarding the ends. If using frozen sliced okra, thaw the okra.
Mix flour, corn meal and pepper in a shallow dish.
Dip okra slices in the milk.
Dredge okra in flour mixture to coat.
Heat oil in a large skillet. Place coated okra carefully in the oil.
Cook stirring frequently but gently until it is golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel lined plate.
