Made this recipe up about 40 years ago when we were camping with some friends I still make it on the grill or on the stove top. This is one of the few ways I got my children to eat a veggies besides corn. I have given this recipe out to alot of friends over the years.
Cut bacon into cubes place in large saute pan. Pan must have a tight fitting lid.
Core cabbage and cut like making slaw.Put on top of bacon.
Dice onion, put on top of cabbage.
Put butter on top of onion.Place lid on top and cook over medium heat till cabbage is wilted. This does not need stired it just needs to steam till done.When done remove from heat and add cheese replace lid and let cheese melt. Remove lid stir and serve.
