My hometown of Evansville, IN is rich in German heritage! You will find many great, great, great grandmother's german recipes passed down through the years! This is definitely not the way Grandma made it but it is every bit as tasty and is a better fit for the lives we lead today!
You can make this a one pot meal by adding bratwurst or smoked sausage!

red potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/4

bacon drippings, optional

Directions Step-By-Step

Cook and drain bacon reserving 2 tablespoons of drippings; crumble; refrigerate.
In 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 quart crock pot mix all ingredients except cooked bacon. Cover. Cook on low 8 - 10 hours. Stir in bacon at the end.
